Brandon graduated in 2012 from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Science in Health Studies with an Anthropology cognate and a specialization in BioEthics. He is a certified personal trainer with The International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). Brandon joined the State of Fitness internship program under the guidance of Justin Grinnell and the rest of the exceptional staff of trainers at State of Fitness in 2013.
Brandon was involved in various sports from a very young age including baseball, football, wrestling, track and tennis. It would actually be during the preparation for these sports later in high school that Brandon became aware of his passion for training. Pushing through the stereotypical muscle magazine workouts and muscle building attempts of a young teen, the stage was set for a much deeper involvement in strength training.
Initially attending Lansing Community College before transferring to MSU, Brandon had his first introduction to structured programming and balanced strength training via the kinesiology courses at LCC. Soon after, talked into a local powerlifting meet by an instructor, Brandon started down a path that still forms a large basis of his strength training core. Within 2 years he had his first Drug Free American Record Squat of 613 lbs at 220lbs. As the years progressed so to did the various State and National Records. Brandon has been ranked Elite or Pro in two different weight classes and has been ranked as high as #5 in the United States as a 181 lbs. raw lifter. He holds records in major federations including the UPA and APF. His best raw totals for 2012 were 1515 at 181 and 1543 at 198.
Getting to join the amazing staff at State of Fitness has provided Brandon an amazing opportunity to work with a professional and nationally recognized group of trainers. The result is a reaffirming quest to bring the best possible training experience to State of Fitness clients while continuing to grow and evolve as a trainer.
“I enjoy Brandon’s classes a lot! Great energy and direction/modifications.”
