What do you love about SOF/What does SOF mean to you?
I love the positive atmosphere State of Fitness provides. It feels like everyone—members and staff included—just wants to help each other live happier, healthier lives.
Posse: My parents, sister, and friends.
Favorite Exercise: Squats, Lunges, and Bench Press.
Least Favorite Exercise: Sled Push/Pulls and Dead Lifts.
Who do you look up to and why?
I definitely look up to my parents. Both my mom and dad are extremely hard working and have been incredibly encouraging throughout my entire life. They each have sacrificed a lot providing me the opportunities I’ve had to become the person I am today.
Favorite Healthy Snack: Berries! Especially raspberries.
Guilty Indulgence: Ben and Jerry’s “Half-Baked.”
What do you do when you are not at the club?
I love being outdoors doing things like camping, hiking, and kayaking. When I’m home I’m usually reading or listening to music.

Dan graduated from Michigan State University in 2018, receiving a B.S. in Kinesiology and minoring in Health Promotions.
Dan grew up in Holland, Michigan where he discovered his love for exercise. After years of living an unhealthy lifestyle, he decided to make a change upon entering high school and discovered first hand the life-altering benefits of exercise and nutrition. This discovery led to his experimentation with several styles of training including bodybuilding, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, and Crossfit. These experiences prompted Dan to pursue a degree in Kinesiology.
After trying out several gyms in the greater Lansing area, he came across State of Fitness during his sophomore year of college. Having enjoyed the facility for a couple of years, he decided to join the internship program in the spring of 2018. This internship is where he discovered his passion for fitness and coaching. Dan became a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council of Sports Medicine upon completing his internship.
