What do you love about SOF/What does SOF mean to you?
The fact that SOF runs as it’s own community; no one is a number at this place. Everyone here from owners to members work to make it the best it can be and we never stop learning.
Posse: my best friends and my family
Favorite exercise: push-ups
Least favorite exercise: walking lunges
Who do you look up to and why?
My mother because she has given me everything I have every needed, even in the hardest of times. She always stays strong no matter what and I can only hope to match her strength one day.
Favorite healthy snack: almond butter
Guilty indulgence: Apple Pie
What do you do outside of SOF?
Listening to music, working out, and looking for more opportunities to increase my knowledge in the fitness world.
When you walk up to opportunity’s door, don’t know on it… kick that thing in and introduce yourself.
Steven is a 2014 graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelors of science in Kinesiology. He is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Steven spent the spring and summer semesters of 2014 completing his MSU internship at State of Fitness, where he gained valuable personal training experience under the supervision of Justin Grinnell.
Steven grew up in Port Huron, Michigan and was a multi-sport athlete throughout high school, participating in football, baseball, and track. At a very young age, he became extremely interested in weightlifting. Through his own trial and error, he quickly understood how strength training can better one’s body and used strength training to better himself in sports. From then, his passion for strength training took off as he spent the next several years training himself and doing whatever he could to learn more about the craft, especially in college.
After four years of training in college and completing his Bachelors degree, Steven completed the internship at State of Fitness, which helped him confirm that working in the training field was the path he wanted to take. He then took all the knowledge he had acquired up to this point and used those principles when training people throughout his new career.
