You Cannot Out Train Poor Nutrition…PERIOD!

Okay people, this is going to be short and sweet.  You simply cannot out train poor nutrition.  It is that simple.  Seriously, think about this for a moment.  You weight train, metabolically blast your body, and push yourself to burn off unwanted body fat or to reach peak performance.  So why would you try to replenish your nutrient craving body with junk, and expect to reach your goals?  You are not simply looking at calories in versus calories out.  You need to pay attention to what the various nutrients in your foods actually do for you in addition to how many calories you ultimately consume.

Here is an example of some of the unhealthy logic I will often hear, “well, I worked out today, so I deserve to have this cheeseburger and fries.  No you don’t.  You deserve to replenish your body with proper fuel that not only revs your metabolism, but also keeps your cells healthy.  The hour that you just spent working out will not combat all of the ill effects of poor nutrition.  In addition to that, you are ultimately not going to achieve your goals.  It’s plain and simple, so stop kidding yourself.

While this idea may be simple, it is not easy.  Start by changing your self dialogue in regards to relationship between working out and nutrition.  Replace, “if I work out 4 days this week, I am going to treat myself to a pint of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.” With, “because I achieved my goal of working out 4 days this week, I am going to reward my body by replenishing with high quality, high octane fuel.”  And here is a healthy tip if you feel like to you need to set up some type of reward system to keep you motivated to workout.  If you maintain your plan of the number of workouts in a week as well as healthy nutrition, reward yourself with a massage or new workout gear.    Healthy rewards are a key to long-term success.

Eat healthy to fuel and replenish your body.  It is too precious to waste on low-quality junk.
